Topic: Deliberate Choice.

Opening Scripture: Psalm 118:24-“This is day which the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it”

What we decide to do matters a lot. Because we are christians doesn’t mean we won’t have down times. When you go through deep waters i will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression you will not be burned up,the flames will not consume you. He told us when we go through the waters of difficulties and walk through the fire he would be with us. He didn’t promise there would be no difficulties or fire but He would be with us through it and that’s comforting. Most times we face issues that weighs us down, what do we do in this period? our opening scripture says ‘this is the day the Lord has made;we will rejoice and be glad in it’, firstly the Psalmist here acknowledge this is the day the Lord has made after which he did something striking which I want us to learn today. He said I will rejoice and be glad in it, what struck me here is ‘I will’, he made a deliberate choice to rejoice.
We as believers let too many things weigh us down, we give the devil too much excitement by being all depressed, sad, confused, bitter, disorganised, the devil sure loves to see us worked up thereby not having time for God, we let all those small things bring us down, but the truth is we can choose to live that way or not.
Note that when David said this is the day the Lord has made and he did choose to rejoice and be glad in it, doesn’t really mean he woke up all happy that morning, he sure did have issues to resolve, David was a king that’s not an issue free position permit me to say, there were matters all lined up for his attention, maybe some he didn’t even know how to go about them but he made a choice to rejoice and be glad, that’s how I want you to make a choice this morning; you might have loads of things bothering you, ask yourself, all the while you’ve been depressed and disorganised, what good has it brought? You need to choose to be glad in God irrespective of what’s before you why is this so? Isaiah 12:3 tells us ‘therefore with joy shall ye draw water of the wells of salvation’. You must maintain your joy to gain access to God’s blessings. How do you maintain your joy? Remember God’s promises concerning you; thats by studying His word. It’s my prayer that nothing will steal your joy again in Jesus name amen.

Lesson for the day- we should always maintain our joy, irrespective of what we go through we should see God’s promises not the challenges

Quotes: Challenges are what make life interesting. Overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.

Lifeforce prayers: Thus says the Lord and I will make round about you a brass fence, they will fight against you but not prevail, for I am with you to deliver and to save…your enemies shall be disgraced, the mockers of your destiny shall be completely disappointed, evil orchestration against your home and destiny shall be totally dismantled, you’re coming up colourfully, you shall never be disgraced again. The hands of the wicked are destroyed in your life in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
