Reckitt Benckiser is to hive off its pharmaceutical
division which houses drugs such as Suboxone (a heroin addiction treatment drug) as a standalone business, so that it can focus its efforts on consumer “powerbrands” such as Durex ,nurofen & finish.
The move is designed to help the business cut costs
and drive efficiencies. Marketing for its consumer
brands will no longer be handled on a country-by-
country basis, but rather across large “regions”, The news follows an announcement few days ago that the company is to invest £100m in its consumer health research and development, with the creation of a “state-of-the-art” Centre of Scientific Excellence, which will be based in the UK.
The FMCG firm published its financial results for the second
quarter.Half-year operating profits was up to 16% with year on year turnover standing at a whooping £1.06bn. “We believe
that Reckitt Benckiser has the potential to deliver
significant long-term value creation as a standalone
business Chief executive Rakish Kapoor said.
